A day at the races ........ but not the horsey kind, this is motorbike road racing! The Northwest 200 is held on the top coast of Northern Ireland every year, and pulls in hundreds of thousands of people. We go every year with our mates, to drink beer in (hopefully) sunny weather, to have great banter and to watch bikes whizz past us at well over 100 mph! At the fastest point of the track someone went 208mph this year ........ it's one of the fastest road races in the world.
So I went with layering with my outfit, you can't depend on the weather usually so it's definitely the way to go ......We actually had sun most of the day which is unusual! Got this T-Shirt recently and it's so funky ....... teamed it with my jeans with biker style stitching on as a nod to the occasion. And not forgetting my trusty PF Flyers plimsolls, they're just soooo comfy.
Sadly, we witnessed a rider crash right in front of us, and he later died in hospital ........ a sobering reminder of how brave these guys are to take part in the sport they so love, despite knowing the danger it entails....... R.I.P. Mark Buckley.
